A Must Have for Moms

Okay, so I am on a kick for nursing products at the moment.  I found out about this product from my nursing class I took and it really was a great tip.  If you are a new mom or need a gift for a new mom, this is a great idea.  Regardless if you are planning on nursing or not, this product will help with the engorgement phase that  you go through.  This product can also help with blocked ducts or if you are one of the unfortunate ones who gets mastitis, it can relieve some discomfort.  You can use these warm or cool depending on your needs.  Initially, when I began pumping, these helped with milk let down.  The package contains 2 reusable packs.

These are available from http://www.amazon.com for $7.99.

The First Years Milk Storage Organizer

If you are nursing, this is the perfect product to freeze your milk and keep it organized.  I am currently using this storage system with the Lansinoh bags.  This box allows me to keep the milk in order by date so that I can always use the oldest first. This storage system keeps the milk confined to a small, organized space in the freezer and the spring loaded backing keeps everything standing up and easily visible. I was able to store up to 20+ bags of 5 oz each at any given time.

I found this product at http://www.amazon.com for $16.99.

Rubber Ducky Your The One!

This is a great item to register for, for all my pregnant friends out there!  This was given to me as a gift for my baby shower.  This has been a wonderful tub to use after baby gets too big for the sink tub and before he or she is big enough for the regular tub.  It is so nice because the sides are padded in case baby looses his/her balance sitting up in the tub.  The tub can easily be deflated for travel and also has a "quacker" in the nose that makes bath time fun.  Now when Hannah hears the duck quack, she knows tubby time is sure to follow.

This duck is made by Munchkin.  It is available at Wal-Mart, Target, Toysrus and http://www.amazon.com for $12.35.

Zulily Fun

I know many of you may already have heard of this website, but I wanted to post about it to ensure that everyone can experience the wonderful shopping deals it offers. I absolutely love this website-it is similar to the Totsy website that I blogged about earlier. Zulily has even more items for moms such as nursing and maternity clothes, organization products, shoes, and many fabulous options for children's apparel. Right now, there is a sale on One Step Ahead products, and actually two of the items I posted here are on sale there. I hope you all can find some wonderful items there. I know I have.

Chicco Baby Space Robot

Okay so this is such a funny toy. It is marketed for 12 months or older, but Victoria loves this toy already. She really enjoys the remote because it lights up when the button is pushed while simultaneously controlling the space robot. This toy is so great to teach cause and effect, and your little one will learn to control the robot's movements as well. It plays musics and lights up as well. I found this toy at www.onestepahead.com for $24.95 but if you hurry you can get this fabulous toy at www.zulily.com for $14.99. This is wonderful toy for a girl or boy and for a wide range of ages!

Early Years Fill and Fun Water Mat

This mat has been absolutely wonderful for Victoria, and I know that Hannah really enjoyed it as well. As many of you Moms already know, tummy time is very important for your newborn. But it can be very challenging getting your little one to enjoy it long enough for it to actually be beneficial. This mat is just the toy that can provide your baby with the right amount of entertainment to promote tummy time! You simply fill it with water, and the plastics toys inside make noise as they move around hitting each other as your baby playfully hits the mat. Victoria really enjoyed seeing the shapes move around in the water. Even when Victoria was sitting up and starting to learn to scoot, she loved looking and hitting the mat making the shapes move around in the water.
This tummy time mat can be purchased at http://www.amazon.com/ for $10.97.

A Wonderful Way to Shop!

So I absolutely love to shop, but more than that I really love a great deal on a fabulous find. One of my favorite places to shop is a website called Totsy. It is not highly publicized so many of you may not know of it. Totsy has specific boutique sales that last a couple of days, and once an item sells out, it is no longer available. You can visit Totsy at www.totsy.com, and sign up to become a member. It is free, and all you do is register your email and password. You will receive an email informing you of what is going on sale. I know Morgan has found some wonderful deals as well, and I have found many items at this particular website that I had not previously known anything about. So visit the website and sign up and enjoy the savings! Happy Shopping!

Gund Fun Peek A Boo Bear

I found this bear while shopping with my mom at a children's store.  We do not have one of these yet but thought it was the cutest thing in the world.  This bear plays Peek-a-boo with baby, talks, giggles and raises arms with blanket to hide the bear's face.  Hannah enjoyed watching the the bear and grinned ear to ear while the bear played peek-a-boo with her.  Maybe if Hannah is lucky the Easter bunny will bring her one in her Easter Basket.

This bear is available at http://www.amazon.com for $33.25.

Vulli Sophie the Giraffe Teether

SOPHIE

This teether is designed to awaken baby's senses.  The selling point is that it stimulates all of baby's senses. It "stimulates sight: The dark and contrasting spots all over Sophie the Giraffe's body provide visual stimulation and make her easily recognizable to baby.  Hearing: Her squeaker keeps baby amused. Taste:Sophie the Giraffe is very flexible and has lots of parts for baby to chew like ears, horns, legs. She is perfect for soothing baby's sore gum when teething and is completely safe. Sophie is made of 100% natural rubber and food paint. Touch: Sophie the Giraffe is perfect for baby's small hands. She is very light and her long legs and neck are easy for baby to grip. She is very soft to touch, stimulating soothing physiological and emotional responses. Smell: The singular scent of natural rubber makes Sophie the Giraffe very special and easy for your child to identify. Sophie is Phthalates and BPA free."

This is an expensive teether but it truly is one of Hannah's favorites.  I know Victoria has one as well and it is rare if either of us leaves the house without it.  This, like the Oball rattle, was one of Hannah's first toys she loved.  It was great early on because it really was an easy toy for her to hang onto and put in her mouth.  Today, she still loves it.  Hannah's face always lights up when she sees Sophie.

I found it on amazon.com for $17.32.

Absolutely a Fabulous Find!

This absolutely one of the my favorite childrens' books. It is a personalized book specifically printed for your child or for that special little one you may be buying a gift for. This is only one of many options you can choose from. I know that Hannah has this particular book pictured here, and Victoria has the My Very Own Fairy Tale. The pictures are so beautiful, and each story is full of wonderful surprises. The book details each letter of the child's name and tells the story around it. This is by far one of my favorite fabulous finds. It also is one of my most favorite gift items. This book can be purchased online at www.iseeme.com. The price ranges from $24.95 to $29.95 depending upon which book is chosen. There are also many wonderful gift sets as well.

Fabulous Pacifiers

Okay so it can be very difficult to find a pacifier that your baby will like especially if you have chosen to breastfeed. The Gerber Natural Flex pacifiers are absolutely wonderful! I know that both Hannah and Victoria really liked these pacifiers. They actually flex and have more of a natural shape for breastfeeding babies which can reduce the chance of nipple confusion. Once I gave this pacifier to Victoria she did not want any others. Another plus to this pacifier is that you can use the fabulous pacifier clips with it. These are my absolute favorite pacifiers!

Playsounds Puzzle Mat

I absolutely love this fabulous find! These interlocking puzzle mats come with a sound chip that when the button is pressed it makes an animal sound. For example, the lion mat makes a loud roar when the button is pushed by those tiny little fingers. I also have the ABC puzzle mat, and these fit with those as well. Victoria loves to scoot around on the her big floor mat looking for the ones that make noise. There are six mats with a frog, rooster, lion, cow, dinosaur, and a horse. I also love to have these around for Victoria to play on because they provide cushion, and they are easy to clean. Right now they are on sale at www.onestepahead.com for $14.95. They are regularly priced at $19.95. This is such a great thing to have at home, and it also makes a fabulous gift as well!

The above picture is of the latest version which is available April 21st.

Sassy Photo Album

I love this fun, little photo book. It goes with us in our diaper bag whenever we leave the house.  Hannah loves her books and she enjoys turning the pages of this one.  She can also use it as a teether. We have filled each page with pictures of her Grandma and Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles and cousins.  She has a large and wonderful, loving family.  This way she will get to put a name to each of their faces.  The book has 7 4x6 photo pockets that can be filled with pictures of your choice.  We can't wait until she can flip through the book and name everyone in her family!

The book is available at  http://www.kohls.com for $6.40 and at http://www.toysrus.com for $6.99.

Oball Rattle

Rhino Toys Oball Rattle

This is a must have for all moms and in my opinion is a FABULOUS FIND! Babies are fascinated by its bright colors and fun rattling beads as they explore its springy surfaces.  Hannah has this ball in pink, of course, and she loves it.  My mother-in-law gave this ball to Hannah when she was about 2 months old.  It was one of her first and favorite toys.  It became a favorite because it was one of the first things she was able to grasp.  Even when her fine motor control was limited and her upper extremity movement was uncoordinated, she was able to hang onto this and flail the ball around.  At first she was not always able to keep hold of the ball so we would attach this to her with her pacifier holder from Southern Sweet Dimples (mentioned in a previous post).    As she became more coordinated she was able to bring the ball to her mouth with both hands.  As she continued to grow she was able to transfer the ball from one hand to another and now that she is crawling she chases after it.

The rattle is available at http://www.amazon.com for $8.23.  It is also available at http://www.toysrus.com for $7.99

Blog What?!

Over the weekend while talking with friends who have visited the blog, we realized a lot of people don't know a whole lot when it comes to blogs.  We didn't either until a few weeks ago.  We just wanted to share a few of the basics with you in case you are new to blogging and don't understand some of the lingo that gets thrown around.

1. What Does It Mean to be a Follower?

Do you have a favorite blog and want to let the author and readers know that you are a fan? Well now you can do that and more with the Blogger Following feature!  There are several ways to become a follower of a blog. One of the easiest ways is to visit a blog and click on the "Follow" button: You'll then see a popup window with the options to either follow publicly or privately: Select how you'd like to follow the blog, then click the "Follow this blog" button. It is that simple, you are now a follower of the blog! When you become a follower of a blog, the blog will also be added to your Reading List on your Blogger dashboard

2. What Does It Mean to Subscribe?

By adding your email address, you will receive our blogposts in your in box whenever we post something new. It is another way to get the info on our blog.  If you do not read any other blogs and want to stay up to date on our blog, we recommend this option vs becoming a follower.

3. How and Where Do I Comment?

To comment on our blog, you look for the word ‘Comment’ under each blog post, and then click on it. A text box appears for you to write your comment and post it when you are finished. You will also be able to see other comments as well.  We welcome you to comment on our posts to provide any feedback that you may have.

We hope this information is helpful!

Beautiful Oops!

"When You Think You Have Made A Mistake, Think Of It As An Opportunity To Make Something Beautiful"

This is the cutest little book.  I first saw this at my nephew's house and I fell in love with the book.  As soon as we came home I ordered it from Amazon.  Hannah is still too little to understand the story but we read to her all the time.  This book has lots of flaps to lift which she enjoys.  This story teaches children that it is okay to make mistakes.   "A spill does not ruin a drawing-not when it becomes the shape of a goofy animal.  An accidental tear in your paper?  Don't be upset about it when you can turn it into the roaring mouth of an alligator."   I think the book delivers a wonderful message, teaching children to always be creative whenever an "oops" occurs.

The book is written by Barney Saltzberg.  The book can be purchased from amazon for $7.70.

The Nuby Bug a Loop Teether

Victoria began teething at 3 months, and needless to say it was a real challenge for me. I tried so many different teething options to help soothe her gums as well as satisfy the strong urge to place something in her mouth. I tried the chill and teethe rings, Orajel, and many other teething items, but this particular teething ring has been her favorite. At 9 months, Victoria now has 8 teeth, and the Nuby Bug a Loop teething ring has been wonderful. Victoria not only enjoys chewing on the ring, but she also loves to turn the little bugs around the ring. The colors are vibrant and stimulating. I absolutely do not leave my house without this toy. I like it also because it is a fabulous find that will work for a boy or girl, and it is extremely affordable. This teething ring can be purchased at Babies R Us for $4.99. I hope that this fabulous find will help those little teethers!

The Travel Sleep Sheep

Not only do both of our families do a lot of traveling out of town, but we also get together at each other's homes quite often. The Sleep Sheep On the Go by Cloud B has been a proven winner for the both of us. This little plush sheep attaches to any baby stroller, car seat, or travel bed. It has four different nature background noises to lull your little one to sleep or to simply calm a fussy baby. You can program the timer to different settings depending upon how long you want it to be on. This little sleep aide has worked wonders for us. Cloud B also makes a larger version for your little one's nursery. For all of you traveling parents, this is truly a fabulous find! And if you do not do a lot of traveling, then it can work wonders at home as well!

You can find this product at www.amazon.com for $19.50.

Animal Cubes Interactive Toddler Toy

This is such a fabulous little toy! This toddler toy is interactive and teaches your little one about animals, recognition, and motor skills. The green base asks the child for example, "Where is the cow?" The child then has to find the cow and place it in the cube as shown to the side. This toy is marketed for toddlers, but Victoria loves playing with the different blocks. As I've stated before, my husband and I love to travel. This toy comes in a wonderful travel bag that perfectly fits into any diaper bag or purse. This can be a wonderful learning toy that any child can enjoy. Victoria is only 9 months, and she loves it! This, too, would make an excellent gift for any child!
You can find this fabulous find at www.onestepahead.com for $15.95.

Chicco Count with Me Bilingual Teddy

My husband and I are raising Victoria to be bilingual. He speaks only Spanish to her while I speak only English. I try to find fabulous toys that are also bilingual to promote her language development, and this toy is absolutely wonderful. This was a Christmas gift to Victoria from our great friends, Ivan and Tessie, and she absolutely loves this toy. The toy is interactive and teaches cause and effect as well. Victoria gets so excited when I place Count with Me Teddy in front of her. When she presses the buttons, hands, and feet different songs play each time. This would be a wonderful gift for any child!
It is $39.99 at www.diapers.com, but you can receive 15% off your first order with them.

Pacifier Clips from Southern Sweet Dimples

PACIFIER HOLDERS

This was a gift that Amber and I received from our dear friend, Vanessa.  It was quite possibly one of the best gifts I received.  Hannah used a pacifier for the first two months, then she was done with it but we were not done with the pacifier holder.   We are still using it!  We attach a toy to it now and clip it on to her.  She is in that stage where she is learning about cause and effect....well mommy gets tired of her constantly dropping her toy on the floor from her stroller, car seat or high chair.  This is the best solution.  It has come in handy many times in church as well.

I know there are all kinds of designs out there for pacifier holders but these are darling because they can be personalized.  All pacifiers are custom made to order. They have styles available for boys and girls or you custom design your own.  They come from a website named http://www.southernsweetdimples.com .  Currently Southern Sweet Dimples is having a sale.  See below.  The cost of the pacifier holder is $7.00.

Here are a few more samples:

Needless to say....this is a FABULOUS FIND!

Touch and Feel Picture Cards

Flash Cards To Feel As Well As See

My mother gave me these cards about a month ago and Hannah loves them.  The appropriate ages for the cards are 18 months-preschoolers but it is never too early to start!  Regardless of her age, she seems to love looking at the pictures and feeling each texture on the cards.  The beauty of these cards is that they can be fun for any age. Over the weekend we were with my nephew and he is 2 1/2 and  he had a ball playing with the cards.

Right now with Hannah, we are mainly trying to start teaching her the colors, shapes and sounds that certain animals make.  On the back of each card there are a series of questions you can ask your child about the image on the card as well as the word in Spanish, French, German and Chinese.

We have the "Colors and Shapes" box set and the "First Words" box set.  One of the cards I love the best is the "jelly" card.  When you touch the bread with jelly on it, it is actually sticky.  The other titles in the series are "Animals" and "Numbers and Counting".  There are 16 cards in each box.   All of the sets are great for boosting language skills.

The cards are available at http://www.onestepahead.com .  Each set is $9.95 or you can buy 2 at $8.95.  They are also available at http://www.amazon.com.  There are a variety of sellers listed on amazon.  The link on amazon listed 15 new to purchase for $5.88.

What a Wonderful Way to Travel!

My husband and I have always loved to travel, and we did not want our new bundle of joy to prevent us from doing so. For our first trip when Victoria was only 6 weeks old, I searched for a safe, convenient, affordable sleep bed that we could use for her. This Eddie Bauer travel bed was perfect. It kept her safe, and I didn't have to worry if hotel cribs were safe or not because I used this. It is extremely light weight, and it folds neatly into small briefcase type design for easy travel and storage. It is also wonderful to have when visiting friends for an evening-you can place your baby in this and continue a fun-filled night with the adults while having peace of mind that your baby is safe and comfortable. I used it with Victoria until she was 6 months old, but Victoria is a large and long baby so most babies would be able to use this longer if needed. In addition, it has a mattress pad, toy bar, and a shoulder strap for easy carrying.

You can find this particular fabulous find at www.target.com for $30.99.

Fabulous Must-Have Book

Obviously, there are many great resources for information out there for us moms. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I really wanted to read as much as I could about different parenting philosophies so that I could determine what would be best for me. I also knew that I would not be reading a whole lot once Victoria was born. After reading many books throughout my pregnancy, I decided that my go to reference would be this book. Actually, my very good friend and experienced mom, Stephanie P., told me about the book because she used it with her little boy. This particular book is not only for infants, but also for toddlers as well. It covers issues related to feeding, sleeping, and behavior from infancy to toddlerhood so it has a broad spectrum of relativity. One of my favorite and most used parts of the book is the E.A.S.Y routine for sleep because I knew that this would most likely be my biggest challenge with a new baby. I followed this routine with Victoria, and she was sleeping from 10:00pm until 6:00am by 8 weeks! Now I realize that every baby is different; but, this book provides insight into many different baby personalities. I highly recommend this book for any new mom as well as for any experienced mom! I love this book so much that it is on my list of fabulous gift items to give to any mom.
You can find this book at www.amazon.com for $11.90, and for those of you Kindle users, it is $13.99.

Robeez Socks- The "Stay Put" Sock

Victoria loves to constantly rub her feet together which made it almost impossible to keep anything on them. I would place cute boots or simple Mary Janes to create a more fashionable look for her, but they would be off her feet by the time we would leave the house. It was the same with her socks! I spent time and money trying to coordinate her socks with her outfits, and I also wanted to ensure that her little feet stayed warm. Well, after countless pairs, I discovered Robeez socks! These socks are absolutely wonderful because they have a kick proof ankle design that prevents them from being removed by those tiny little feet. The reinforced band does not cause any constriction on Victoria's little feet. These fabulous socks are made from cotton, nylon, and spandex. I also love the super cute designs-they offer traditional pink and lavender designs to trendy animal prints for girls, and for the little guys there are many wonderful classic designs from nautical to little monsters. These make wonderful gifts as well, and they are packaged in a gift ready box!
You can purchase this find at http://www.diapers.com/ or http://www.tinysoles.com/ for $10/3 pair.

Feeding On-the-Go!

How many of you would love to have a quick and easy way to feed your little one when you are on the go? This is the perfect way to do so with ease whether it's during lunch with friends, traveling in the car on long road trips, or while on vacation. This also eliminates additional containers and spoons that take up space in your diaper bag or purse. Victoria loves the wonderful flavors from Plum Organics, and I love that many of them have combined fruit and vegetable flavors. This is one of the only ways I can get my picky eater to take her daily requirement of veggies. The screw on spoon tip is made by Boon, and it comes 2 to a pack. It is packaged in a sleek, small travel case that fits perfectly into any bag. This has become one of my essentials when leaving the house even for quick errands!

You can find Plum Organics baby food at Babies R Us for $1.29 per 4.22 ounce package. The Plum Organics Dispensing Spoon by Boon can be found at http://www.amazon.com/ for $11.99 for 4 packages of 2 spoons.

TEETHING NECKLACE

A NECKLACE FOR MOMMY AND ME!

Keep your favorite necklaces safe from drool and tugging hands by replacing them with a stylish teething necklace. Looking much like a chunky glass bauble necklace, these teething necklaces are made in the USA of non-toxic, FDA-approved material. Teething nubs on one side of each bead gently and safely massage tender gums.

As I mentioned before, Hannah is always wanting to put everything in her mouth.  When I hold her, she is always fascinated by what is hanging around my neck.  Once she gets her hands on my necklace, she tries to pull the necklace right into her mouth.  This necklace is the perfect solution for this problem.  My sister-in-law gave me this necklace in black when Hannah was born.  It goes well with most outfits and can be dressy or casual.  If I am not wearing it when I leave the house I toss it in my diaper bag so it can be accessible if needed. I love this find!

I was only able to locate this necklace style at Uncommon Goods.  There are other teething necklaces in different styles out there but I prefer the look of this one.  This one is $29.00 at http://www.uncommongoods.com.

TUBBY TIME

SCRUB-A-DUB-DUB!

Barnyard bath was a gift to me from my dear friend, Heather, when she found out I was expecting.  Little did I know how much Hannah would love the book.  Hannah loves to flip through this book during her tubby.  Barnyard Bath is great because we can teach her the names of the animals and the sounds they make too.

Barnyard Bath by Sandra Boynton is a cute little bath book for babies and toddlers. It is bright and colorful with pictures of farm animals.  A small washcloth with the cow's face on it is included in the book.  The story is short and simple. The book starts with, "It's bath time! Is your washcloth nice and wet? Let's get going! Ready, set...Wash the duckies. Wash the cow. Scrub the piggy. You know how!  Wash the sheep and chicken, too...Now wash You!"

The book is available at http://www.amazon.com for $8.95.
